CHICAGO—Bulldogging is a new performance work by Devin Mays. For this piece, Mays makes use of the entire gallery as he layers spatial interventions with live and recorded sound. Structured cues dictate movements and object interactions by the artist, as well as songs sung live by a church choir. As with much of Mays’ work, Bulldogging leaves us to find ourselves occupying a notional space between thinking we know what’s happening to us, and wondering what should be happening to us.
