钻研水墨画时,我对时间和空间的观点不断改变;当我拜读明代艺术理论家董其昌的画论时,我突然想起康定斯基; 当我穿梭山川遗迹时,古代中国画的细节就像爱森斯坦的蒙太奇电影一样在脑海中闪过。—郝量 纽约—郝量:肖像与奇观作品展,将于5月8日至6月23日在高古轩画廊举行。此次展览将展出钻研传统水墨技巧的当代艺术家郝量的水墨画新作,这不但是他与高古轩首度合办个展,也将成为他在美国的首场展览。 郝量致力复兴及推广水墨画传统,多年来醉心研究中国古代艺术史,对历代作品及相关母题、诗意传统了如指掌。然而,在其绢本长卷、肖像画和巨幅风景画中,他以现代都市人的角度演绎水墨技巧和主题,巧妙地将苏轼与肖斯塔科维奇(Shostakovich)、赵孟俯与爱森斯坦(Sergei Eisenstein);王维与吉尔‧德勒兹(Gilles Deleuze)共冶一炉。 在此次展览中,郝量探索大自然与时间的永恒变幻。 《溪山无尽》(2017)是一幅超过37呎长的绢本长卷,有别于其以往的叙述性作品,艺术家尝试将传统中国山水画的细节和符号,结合二十世纪的艺术理论,在气势磅礡的卷轴作品中揉合明代文人兼艺术家董其昌(1555–1636)和俄罗斯现代艺术家瓦西里‧康定斯基(Wassily Kandinsky,1866– 1944)的风格特色。从右至左欣赏作品时,会先看到一个男人的侧影,他代表现实与重现之间的对话者。灰色、蓝色,绿色和红色的蜿蜒图案化作山峦,树林,海浪和浮云,无数奇异的空间相交并行,灵感源自人体的肌肉和血管系统。然后,郝量将康定斯基的伸缩圆形图案投入回旋的轨道,而天外红衣智者则从上方静观一切,犹如一个神圣或来自宇宙的人物。在卷轴末段,画卷开启时的男子赤身站在折射的抽象空间之中,回顾这趟既微观又宏观的旅程。 郝量透过双联画《夜以继日》(2017- 18)进一步探索时间与感知,两幅画作描绘相同的风景,但尺寸悬殊。较大的作品呈现色彩缤纷的白昼,而较小的画作则描绘漆黑的夜晚。他在作品中扭曲空间与物体比例,突显海,天和地之间的万变互动。作品灵感来自清代缩痕家王子若的砚碑,王氏擅长缩刻有不同文字,图画和历史文献的古代石碑。郝量深受石碑和拓本的启发,在山水画中运用同一逻辑,展示光线,大小和质感如何改变清晰度和记忆。 中国文人习惯同时以诗词与画作等不同角度审视一个题材,郝量从文人石取材,从多个角度描绘作品,并运用于肖像画中。三联画《红鼻子》(2017)描绘一个没有特定种族,年龄或年代的普通人,而《卷起千堆雪》(2018)则挪用元代画家赵孟韬笔下苏轼所持竹竿并生动地描绘了一位西方人,同时令人想起赵氏笔下宋代艺术家兼诗人苏轼的画像。苏轼在其中一首名词《念奴娇赤壁怀古》中描写大自然的永恒变化追忆历史往事。郝量在作品中进一步演绎这份情感,拥抱山峦与星宿,身体和心灵等万事万物在过去与现在的同步性。 此次展览将附有图文并茂的完整画册《郝量:肖像与奇观》(Hao Liang:Portraits and Wonders),并载有LoïcLe Gall撰写的文章以及田霏宇的访谈。 郝量于1983年生于中国成都,现于北京居住及从事创作。他的作品收藏于纽约大都会艺术博物馆,巴黎庞毕度中心,三藩市卡蒂斯特艺术基金会和荷兰马斯特里赫特Bonnefanten美术馆。近期的博物馆展览包括2016年荷兰Bonnefanten美术馆「Hao Liang:Aura」展览,2016年北京尤伦斯当代艺术中心「郝量:潇湘八景」展览,2017年第57届威尼斯双年展,2017年纽约大都会博物馆「溪山无尽,中国的山水传统」展览和2017年巴黎蓬皮杜中心「成立四十年纪念馆藏展」。
